Option for survivor’s pension

 
  When a member dies as a result of job-related accident, humanitarian act or dedication to the community before making any option, and with such reasons of death confirmed by the supervisory entity, the following persons can opt for the survivor’s pensions, instead of the accrued benefits and the premiums for long-term service, if applicable, entitled to the member under the Provident Fund Scheme, according to the following order of priority:  
 
1) The member’s spouse;
2) The member’s children who suffer from total and permanent incapability for work;
3) The member’s children who have the right to family allowance;
4) The member’s parents who have the right to family allowance;
5) The person that is equated to the spouse.
 
     
  Application period  
  The member’s entitled beneficiaries shall exercise the right for option within 90 days from the date of death of the member.  
     
  Application procedure and documents required  
  The applicant shall come personally to our reception counter to fill in the written form (Model no.RP-8B) provided by the Pension Fund, submitting:  
 
1) Copy of identification document of the applicant;
2) Copy of bank passbook;
3) Supporting document related to the relationship between the applicant and the member (ex. marriage certificate, birth certificate).
 
     
  Remarks  
 
1) In the case of more than one beneficiary in the same class, the option for the survivor’s pension made by any one of them prevails and such choice will be applied to the rest of the beneficiaries;
2) The survivor’s pension is equal to 70% of the retirement pension;
3) Persons who are entitled to the survivor’s pension under the terms of the Retirement and Survivor’s Pensions Scheme may claim his/her share of the pension.
